New Message or New Task
AI is fickle when it comes to the context it needs. Too little, and the results become too much of a shot in the dark. Too much, and it gets overwhelmed and starts to forget some of what you’ve told it. To help striking that balance, we’ve introduced Tasks. A task is a set of messages that are all related to the reaching the same goal. For instance, if you’re creating a form field, the following messages would all be part of the same task:
- Please create a form prompting the user for their name, address, zipcode, town, country, phone number and email
- Please split the “Full name” field into first name, middle initials and last name, and make middle initials optional.
- Please group the name fields together, the address fields together and the mail and phone fields together
But if you then start building the page the form leads to once submitted, that would be better done as a new task, as far most of the context up until now, has no relevance for this new page.
In general, there are no rules set in stone about when it is a new task or when it is just another message in the current task, but to optimise on the quality of the output from Henosia it is a good idea to avoid the message chains becoming too long.
Another, more trivial reason for being deliberate about when to create a new task vs. a new message, is it makes your task list under History more searchable.
